How do diabetes-related foot ulcers affect mobility - and treatment?

Interdisciplinary high risk foot services are known to improve healing outcomes for people with diabetes-related foot ulcers, and in-person attendance is essential for sharp debridement, local wound care, and medical and podiatry consultations needed to facilitate healing.

A survey of 60 Sydney-based consumers living with diabetes-related foot ulcers found that physical mobility deficits seriously impact patients' ability to attend for treatment  a factor its authors recommend should be taken into consideration by service providers.
