 Wounds Australia Research Grants 2018
Call for Expression of Interest for Wounds Australia Research Grants

Every 2 years, timed to allow announcement at the Wounds Australia conference (this year in Adelaide, October 2018), the Research Portfolio  of Wounds Australia (previously the Australian Wound Management Association Research Foundation) calls for submissions for grants to support wound research in Australia.  The grants are funded from the Research Trust. The grants are for either $10,000 or $5,000 and it is expected projects will be completed in time to present findings at the following Wounds Australia conference, 2 years later.
Priority areas are:

  1. Fungating/malignant wounds
  2. Support surfaces to prevent pressure injuries
  3. Wound infection, including early detection and management
  4. Wound assessment tools and associated measurement scales
  5. Health service models
  6. Compression therapy/other devices to increase venous and/or lymphatic return
  7. Symptoms and signs of wounds that can be used to plan and evaluate management
  8. Prevalence of wounds
  9. Cost effectiveness of therapies
  10. Risk factors for delayed wound healing
  11. Impact of wounds on quality of life
  12. Strategies to translate evidence into practice

Proposals need to include:

  1. Leader
  2. Name of project
  3. Participants in the project
  4. Timeline
  5. Funds applied for ($5k or $10k) and how they will be expended
  6. Research area- ie priority area above, or “other”
  7. Summary (<1000 words)
    1. Clinical need and relevance to priority/non-priority area
    2. Objectives
    3. Methodology
    4. Outcomes
    5. How the project is expected to change practice
  8. Investigators’ research record (note- early career/young or new investigators are encouraged to apply)

Applications close 31 May 2018 - if successful, applicants are required to sign a grant agreement with Wounds Australia and the applicant should attend the Wounds Australia 2018 conference.
