As the peak body for chronic wound prevention and management, Wounds Australia developed the Wound Awareness Week 2021 (WAW21) campaign to reduce patient numbers and costs by:
- raising awareness of risks, warning signs and treatments
- enhancing the skills of health and aged care workers, while growing our membership
- driving changes to health policy
In 2021, the campaign centred on the launch of our 11 Point Plan and its role as a blueprint for governments to improve their management of chronic wounds. We identified simple affordable reforms that allow policy commitments to be quickly fulfilled. Six points deliver directly on our goals for federal health care and state health policy. Five points support recommendations from the Aged Care Royal Commission.
