Wounds Australia Online Webinar: Acute vs Chronic Infection - 18 June 2020


This presentation will focus on identification and management of a wound infection. Terry will discuss the wound infection continuum, signs and symptoms. She will distinguish between a chronic infection and an acute infection. Recommendations on how to manage local infection and the best technique to obtain a wound culture will be provided. Antimicrobial and antiseptic stewardship will conclude the presentation.

Learning Objectives:
  - The participant would now have knowledge of the covert and overt signs and symptoms of a local infection
  - The participant would now have knowledge of the prevalence of biofilm and its impact on wound healing
  - The participant will have knowledge on the importance of therapeutic wound cleansing, debridement, wound edges and antimicrobial wound dressings to manage a local wound infection
